Partnerships
The Children of Ecuador Foundation has built strong partnerships with many organizations and people both in Ecuador and in Canada. We would like to recognize and thank the incredible people who have made a significant impact on the work we do in Ecuador. Without their support, we simply would not sustain and build upon our work in coastal Ecuador.
Rotary Club of Spruce Grove- our longest and most significant supporter. The Spruce Grove Rotary Club contributed to the building of our first ever project at Escuela Una de Octobre. Since 2005, they have contributed thousands of dollars to various projects including the Bioregional education program, sponsorship for Escuela Una de Octobre, and the construction of a sports park at Genesis schools. Most recently, four Rotarians took a week long trip to Ecuador in October of 2011 to see firsthand the impact of their work. Children of Ecuador is incredibly grateful to the members of the Rotary Club of Spruce Grove for their longstanding commitment to the children we work with.
Parkland School Division- Various schools and teachers in Parkland School division have made significant contributions to our programs. Spruce Grove Composite High School, Woodhaven Middle School, Greystone Centennial Middle School, Blueberry, Ecole Meridian Heights, Millgrove, Brookwood, Parkland Village, High Park, and Duffield school have all hosted fundraisers and helped to spread the message we share. In particular, Parkland School Division schools have spearheaded our Pennies for Poverty campaign, helping to raise over $10,000 in pennies and other loose change!
Mr. I and Friends and the World Financial Group- Mark Ivancic, a teacher at Ecole Meridian Heights joined our group with his daughter Megan on our 2008 trip to Ecuador. Since then he has hosted a concert every year to raise funds for our organization. In combination with Justin Haylin, Matt Schellenberger and the World Financial Group in matching donations, they have raised over $10,000 in the past three years. Their time and efforts not only make for an incredible concert, but help make a significant change for the children in coastal Ecuador.
Vladir Villagran and Genesis School- Vladir is our main contact in Ecuador and the leader of some of our programming in the area. He hosts our travel groups and maintains contact with our organization on how the day to day progress is going. Vladir is instrumental in the leadership he provides in his community and his connection to the people we work with. He is a visionary for coastal Ecuador and has driven remarkable change in education in Bahia de Caraquez.
Planet Drum- Planet Drum is a non profit organization based out of San Fransisco, California. Their efforts in environmental sustainability has provided Bahia de Caraquez and area the ability to rebuild itself after back to back floods and earthquake in the area in the late 1990′s. Our work with Planet Drum is pivotal to broadening our impact.
Volunteers and Donors- We have a wide range of people who donate money, bottles, pennies, and time to help our organization grow. We are always looking for people to continue to help our efforts.
